What You are Made up of.

If you observe the world around you today you would notice that so many people are struggling with all sorts of illnesses. From diabetes to high blood pressure, digestive issues to cancer and I am of the firm belief that people struggle with this because they do not know or comprehend how their bodies function.

I say this all the time and will continue to repeat this over and over again, if our bodies are all that we were given to traverse and navigate this reality with, it is in our best interest to master it’s form and function so that we may use it as optimally as possible.

The first way step towards learning your body’s function is to learn how it is constituted. This means learning what it is made of and the role of each part and how they function in unison.

The first step is to observe yourself as an organism, a body that represents the sum of all its parts working harmoniously. These parts working together harmoniously are commonly separated into what is referred to as organ systems which are networks of organs that work together to complete a function such as movement of the body as a whole, digestion – the ingestion, breakdown, absorption, and excretion of food, respiration – the breathing in and out of air, circulation – the distribution of nutrients throughout the body.

Now these organ systems are made up of organs which can be viewed as the devices within our bodies that do the work such as the brain, the heart, the stomach, the pancreas, or the liver. These are the tools that serve specific functions that keep our bodies operating as they should. If we were to dissect these organs, we would see that the material that they are made up of vary. They vary based on the functions they serve. These varying materials are referred to as tissue which are differentiated by the cells that combine to form them. Imagine organs as a country and the tissue to be different cultural groups that make up that country and cells as the people that combine themselves to create the cultural groups, each serving their own functions.

The cells are like the tiny people within the body that actually do the work and due to the complexity of the body’s daily tasks, there are a multitude of different cells that serve different functions. The cells are comprised of organelles which in essence are just like the organs that we possess within us, each serving their own individual function that cumulatively keep the cell functioning much like our organs keep us functioning.

These organelles are made up of molecules which in essence are tiny atoms combined together to form molecules that now serves it’s own function based on the atoms it is combined with. Atoms themselves are made up of subatomic particles called protons, neutrons, and electrons. It is these that form together to make an atom and depending on how many combine determines what atom is formed.

Interestingly, an atom is composed of a proton which when etymologically dissected means “protos” meaning “first” and “on” meaning “being”, hence “proton” means “first being” the neutron means “neutral being” and the electron means “electric being”. In essence, this trinity of “beings” form the foundation of which our bodies are formulated.

As we recap, the trinity of protons, neutrons, and electrons bond together to form atoms, atoms bond together to form molecules, molecules bond together to create organelles, organelles are what comprise a cell, cells come together to form tissue, tissue are what organs are composed of, organs come together to form organ systems and organ systems in operation together are what constitute our bodies.

Each level of the human body, from the organism to sub-atomic particles, is interconnected and essential for overall function. This intricate web of connections underscores the importance of studying the body as a unified system, where each part plays a vital role in maintaining health and vitality.
